So I have now been back for a month and how time seems to fly. The countdown timer to the Global Ocean Race is ticking away and I am finding myself waking up at all sorts of anti social hours musing over various ideas and concepts. It has become all consuming, every hour of everyday I am thinking about how to make the campaign a huge success, how best to sell it to potential sponsors, how to find a unique angle and make ocean yacht racing attractive to sailors and non sailors alike.
Well the good news is that I have now got the campaign concept clearly mapped out and I think it will work well. I have a couple of interesting meetings lined up so no big announcements just yet but there is certainly an air of positivity buzzing around the campaign right now. It is not easy trying to pull such a project together and a thick skin is certainly needed to brush off the disappointments and hold your head up high. The key thing is of course to believe in yourself and in your project and this time round I most certainly do.
It is essential that when we get to the start line we do so in an immaculately prepared boat with a coherent team, having already delivered a fantastic pre race warm up program for our sponsors. It is only a little daunting to consider that this is all down to me to get it off the ground but that is all part of the challenge and I have enjoyed every minute of it so far.
